Abstract

Action research is a form of qualitative research and efficiently solve existing problems of day-to-day actions (activities) in educational organizations and gives the advantage to constantly improve educator’s professional development in their work place. Thus, the researchers have proven that Action research is important to improve the quality of educational organizations’ (universities) services and to provide professional development of lecturers.  Since 2017 academic year, the Mongolian National University of Education aims to develop Action Research as one of Priority tendency of fundamental research МNUE.

The purpose of the paper is to present the findings of comparative study on over 30 definitions, cycles and phases of Action research that are shown in the source, and research papers of scholars,  researchers of the Western countries, who have developed the theory and methodology of this field. We have used the following qualitative methods to collect data in the study such as: literature review and models of cycles and stages of action research, to analyze data we have made some comparison and grouping on their main thoughts or theories. The collected data and findings of current comparative study will be as well as a Didactic Training tool for Bachelor, Master students and Doctoral candidates’ programs of Mongolian National University of Education where there is currently the lack of textbooks and manuals in the field of applied subjects, as well as the opportunity to carry on comparative studies for Mongolian researchers, who conduct Action Research, which is the importance of this article.
