As a result of the reforms and structural changes of the Mongolian National University of Education, Research office was established on August 18, 2014. According to the Development Policy of Mongolian National University of Education, we have a long-term vision to become a Research University. Office of Research and Innovation plays a leadership role in national and international activities regarding research policy and guides the University in defining and meeting the emerging research opportunities of the future. Important goals of the research agenda include promotion of interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary research; integration of research and education at both the graduate and undergraduate levels; promotion and facilitation of technology transfer, affirmation of the integrity of research processes and policies; establishment of national and international collaborative research partnerships at the University; participation in federal and state research-related policy making; coordination of activities that promote participation of a broad range of individuals in research, scholarly, or creative activity that strengthen the University’s research enterprise; and oversight of research faculty policy and implementation. 

The MNUE is implementing basic and complementary research priorities through five core study centers, departmental faculty departments, professors and groups, and results in training and practice. From the total number of lecturers, which contains 44 percent, have academic degrees and we aims to be an open university that has established a system of academic freedom and competition, as well as a study of research based on knowledge-based development, an effective public-private partnership and a sustainable university that promotes science and innovation development. The University expands research facilities constantly through open and online libraries, and information technology.
